Summary
- The OnePlus 13T is likely ditching its sibling’s circular camera island for a squarish one inspired by Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
- The 13T has a smaller form factor with a 6.3-inch display, a massive 6200mAh battery, and 80W charging to rival the likes of the Galaxy S25 and the Pixel 9 Pro.
- It could also be the first OnePlus phone to feature a customizable button replacing the alert slider. The handset is rumored to debut in China sometime in April.
It’s almost time for a mid-cycle OnePlus flagship to pop out in the open. The OnePlus 13T has leaked a bunch of times already, and it’s shaping up to be unlike any other phone from the OnePlus 13 family. Its design seems to be inspired by pretty much every other Android flagship mashed together. And now, the OnePlus 13T is said to feature a camera island inspired not by the OnePlus 13, but by the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Over the years, OnePlus phones have carved out a distinct design identity, especially with their circular camera islands. The OnePlus Open had a centered circular camera bump, while the OnePlus 12 and 13 opted for a slightly off-centered one — but still circular all the same. This new leak, though, suggests the 13T is going a bit off-script (via Android Authority).
In an X (formerly Twitter) post by Tech Info (included below), you can see someone spinning what looks like a OnePlus 13T, showing how easily it spins on the tip of a finger, granted you’ve got the skills for that. More interesting, though, is what the photos and video reveal: a rear design that includes a camera bump clearly inspired by the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Just like Google’s foldable, the OnePlus 13T appears to have a metal camera bump with two vertically stacked lenses, an LED flash, and another sensor (likely not a third camera).
While it resembles the Pixel 9 Pro Fold at a glance, OnePlus’ sister brands — Oppo and Realme — also have a bunch of mid-tier and premium phones featuring similar squarish camera bumps. So, it’s entirely possible the 13T is borrowing design cues from its cousins, with the Pixel being a secondary influence, if at all. The new leak aligns with an earlier one too, adding more credibility to the idea that this is indeed the final design.
The OnePlus 13T could be a small-phone champ
The OnePlus 13 and 13R are both fairly large phones. The 13T breaks away from that trend with its more compact 6.3-inch 120Hz display and flat iPhone-style edges. While compact phones have historically struggled with battery life, OnePlus is looking to challenge that narrative. The 13T is rumored to pack a massive 6200mAh battery — impressive, given its size. That’s a near-perfect recipe to take on compact rivals like the Galaxy S25 and the Pixel 9 Pro.
It doesn’t stop there. The phone is also said to support super-fast 80W charging and will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. And in a major shift, the OnePlus 13T might be the first OnePlus phone to replace the iconic alert slider with a customizable button — yep, another move seemingly inspired by Apple.
We don’t have a confirmed launch date yet, but the OnePlus 13T is expected to go official in China sometime this month, with a global rollout likely soon after.
