PurePKG package manager for jailbroken devices updated to version 1.7 to fix memory leak

PurePKG, the newest package manager app to be released for jailbroken devices, has received another update on Saturday, this time bringing the project up to version 1.7.

PurePKG v1.7 released.PurePKG v1.7 released.

PurePKG lead developer lrdsn0w announced the latest update in a post shared to X (formerly Twitter) early Saturday morning, noting that the update was highly recommended for all users due to fixing a nasty memory leak issue that resulted in poor performance when using the old tweak depictions.

Citing the change log, PurePKG v1.7 introduces the following changes and improvements:

– Rewrote tweak depictions (now supports all of Sileo’s depictions except videos & reviews)
– Paid tweaks are now highlighted and show the price

If you’re already a PurePKG user, then you can open any package manager app of your choice and refresh your sources to find the latest update available to download. Installing it over your existing installation will enhance the performance of your tweak depictions, and you should also notice something new when looking at paid jailbreak tweaks in PurePKG.

Anyone who isn’t already using PurePKG may want to give it a try. It offers a new and refreshing user experience for finding and installing jailbreak apps and tweaks. Anyone who has ever used the PureKFD package manager app on a device susceptible to the Kernel File Descriptor (KFD) exploit before may find the new package manager app’s UI familiar, as it has a lot of the same design elements and is made by the same developer.

PurePKG supports both rootful and rootless jailbreaks on iOS & iPadOS 13 and later, up to and including iOS & iPadOS 17. We have not seen any confirmation about iPadOS 18 as of yet, as we have learned that at least one checkm8-vulnerable iPad can run iPadOS 18, and therefore should be jailbreakable when palera1n gets updated to support it.

If you aren’t using PurePKG yet, and you’d like to give it a try, then you will need to add the PurePKG repository to your package manager app. The URL to do that can be found below:

PurePKG is also fully open-source on GitHub for anyone who might be interested in learning more about how it works under the hood.
