It’s been a few months since Google released a major update for the Pixel Watch family. The March 2026 Feature Drop introduced several useful new features, while the June 2026 Feature Drop focused solely on Pixel phones and skipped any Pixel Watch-specific changes. Google now seemingly plans to compensate for that by rolling out Wear OS 7 to its smartwatch lineup.
As spotted by Droid Life, Verizon updated its support page to reflect that the Wear OS 7 update is rolling out for the Pixel Watch family. The carrier’s changelog doesn’t mention any new features or major changes. Instead, it only lists the following generic release notes:
- The latest Wear OS 7 update.
- The most up to date Android Security Patch.
- Performance and stability improvements.
Google announced Wear OS 7 at I/O 2026 in May. It packs several new features and improvements, including Wear Widgets, which bring proper widgets to Wear OS. Live Updates will further complement them, enabling widgets to dynamically update to display real-time information, like food delivery or package tracking.
Another notable usability upgrade is the enhanced per-app media auto-launch controls. So, you can set the media controls to auto-launch only for select media apps.
An upgraded Watch Face Format (WFF5) introduces enhanced alignment and auto-sizing options for even better watch faces.
Wear OS 7 should extend your watch’s battery life
Besides all the functional and usability improvements, Google says Wear OS 6 watches upgrading to Wear OS 7 should see a 10% boost in battery life.
Wear OS 7 is based on Android 17, but its release should presumably not be tied to the release of Android 17 itself.
Verizon lists a release date of June 9, 2026, though the update is nowhere to be seen. If anything, it likely points to Google soon releasing Wear OS 7 for its smartwatches. Whenever it does, based on Verizon’s information, it should carry the following build numbers:
- Pixel Watch 2: CP2A.260603.001
- Pixel Watch 3: CP2A.260603.001
- Pixel Watch 4: CP2A.260603.001
The original Pixel Watch has reached its end of life, so it won’t get Wear OS 7. Hopefully, Google will push the new Wear OS build to its other compatible Pixel Watch models soon.
