Apple is known for rolling out fast updates for its devices, but in the Android world, that reputation belongs to Samsung and Google. While Samsung has struggled recently with the timely rollout of the Android 15 One UI 7 update, the company is usually one of the fastest to deliver updates. It looks like Samsung is keeping that promise alive for its Galaxy smartwatches too.

As spotted by SammyGuru and Sammobile, Samsung has started rolling out a new update for many of its smartwatches. Recently launched models like the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra received the April 2025 update earlier this month, but the update is now reaching older models like the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 as well.
The update is reportedly rolling out first in Korea, but Samsung has also started pushing it to some models in the US (via Reddit). You can check if the update is available on your Galaxy Watch by opening the Galaxy Wearable app > Watch settings > Watch software update.

The update files are fairly large, measuring around 400–500MB depending on the model. However, do not expect major changes. As spotted by 9to5Google on Samsung’s official website, the April 2025 update mainly brings stability improvements and security updates. Interestingly, even the security patch included is a month older, with the update still carrying the March 2025 security patch.
That said, it is still great to see Samsung continuing to care for both its older and newer smartwatches, especially while some other brands, like TicWatch, have taken months to push updates to their Wear OS devices. Samsung promised to update its smartwatches quarterly, and it is good to see the company standing by its word.
