Xteink just released a dirt cheap tiny e-reader

And as if that wasn’t enough, Xteink has also launched a cheaper version of its flagship e-reader, giving you the chance to experience a pocket-sized e-reader for just $79.

But lacks a touchscreen or front light

Xteink isn’t the brand that kicked off the tiny e-reader craze, but it certainly brought it to a wider audience when it launched the Xteink X4 to viral acclaim. That device was so tiny it could fit onto the back of a smartphone, and indeed, it was meant to, thanks to its MagSafe-compatible magnets.

Xteink discontinued the X4 in favor of the X4 Pro, adding a front light and touchscreen to the tiny device. Those additions pushed up the price, but fans of bargains can rest easy, as the X4 Classic now fills the void left by the old X4.

The Xteink X4 Classic is largely the same as the more expensive X4 Pro. Like the X4 Pro (and unlike the old X4), it lacks a USB-C port, and uses pogo pins for charging instead. Otherwise, it looks largely identical to the original X4.

Unlike the X4 Pro, the Classic doesn’t have a front light or a touchscreen. Instead, you’ll have to rely on an external light source, and the built-in buttons to turn the pages.

That said, Xteink has a new trick for the Classic. Just shake the device, and it’ll turn the page. It’s a great inclusion, and save your hand from contorting into weird shapes to turn pages.

A far more convenient way to buy

I love the X4 Pro. The Pro version of Xteink’s e-reader may have lost a USB-C port, but it gained a front light and a touchscreen, making it a far more competent e-reader.

There are plenty of people who use Xteink’s devices as their primary e-readers, and when you use one, you can see why. They’re tiny, adorably cute, and can travel with you in a way other e-readers can’t.

Alright, the software is rubbish, but you should be flashing Crosspoint on it as soon as possible anyway.

While options from Boox are coming to try and usurp the crown, Xteink’s X4 Pro has my heart, and it may capture yours too. And now, you can buy yours from Amazon. Hopefully it starts beating Kindles, like the Xteink X4.
