Google used to offer a feature on Android called Google Now that proactively served up information from across your Google account. Google Now would show stuff like upcoming calendar events or helpful info pulled from your Gmail account, like flight information and real-time package tracking. Google Now was phased out in 2016, eventually replaced by the Google app’s Discover feed.
Last month, we heard that Google may rebrand Pixel phones’ persistent At a Glance widget that shows weather info, calendar events, and more. The updated version would be called Gemini Space and support more types of info, including sports scores and stock updates. Now, Android Authority has reported that that change may also come with a feature called Daily Hub.
Android Authority reports strings that refer to the Daily Hub feature, as well as text that reads like a description to be displayed with a toggle for the new Hub: “Show a space for content and suggestions to simplify your day.”
That’s not much to go on, but based on the short description, it sounds a lot like what Google Now used to offer. It also brings to mind the Now Brief feature Samsung debuted on its Galaxy S25 phones. I wasn’t terribly impressed with Now Brief — while I was using it, it mostly just showed me the weather — but access to information in my Google account should make Daily Hub more useful for me.
Dusting off an old favorite?
Google Now was an impressive innovation when it hit Android more than a decade ago, and I’d love to see it make a comeback in this new Daily Hub feature — especially if it can live to the left of Android’s home screen like Google Now once did. Google Now managed to be pretty useful without any AI to speak of, so it’ll be interesting to see how (or if) Gemini integration improves the experience.
It seems likely Daily Hub will make its debut on the Pixel 10 series, which we’re expecting Google to show off in August.
