Just a day after Snapseed product lead Giles Ochs announced via Instagram reel that “the wait is almost over. snapseed 4.0,” the wait is actually over.

This is the first update for Android users since May 2024. It’s been a particular point of contention since the Google-owned photo-editing app gave iOS a batch of new features back in February.

All could be forgiven now that version 4.0 is live in the Play Store.

Snapseed fans get a long-awaited in-app camera, the Snapseed Camera, that has real-time effects that can be adjusted after snapping. There are also vintage style film filters, one-tap editing, and batch editing, as well as the ability to revert to an original photo at any stage in the editing process.

The app and all its features are free without ads.
