The GFiber app Google Fiber subscribers use to do things like adjust account settings and get customer support has received a major update. A post on the Google Fiber Blog outlines the update, including new features like better network diagnostics and the option to request live video support.

With the latest update, GFiber customers will gain the ability to get live video support, which can help support agents solve equipment issues more quickly by letting them see a customer’s equipment in real time.

There’s also a new Network Health feature for customers who have one of a handful of GFiber routers that shows “a real-time assessment of speed, coverage, and overall performance,” as well as troubleshooting for any issues detected in those areas. You can see which routers are supported here. Interestingly, Google Wifi and Nest Wifi Pro routers aren’t supported.

An updated speed test breaks down speed info into speed from network to router as well as speed from your router to other devices. There’s also a new device management interface for users with GFiber’s Wi-Fi 6E router. There, you can check which devices are connected to your network, and easily block any that don’t look familiar.
