Spotify is one of the best audio streaming apps, but it doesn’t always behave the way you want it to, just like every other app. While issues can arise anytime, you can easily fix some of the common Spotify problems and restore your music streaming. However, sometimes it’s not your Wi-Fi or the phone, it’s Spotify that fails to deliver, just as it did this morning.

Users on social media platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter) started complaining that Spotify was failing to load. Real-time problem and outage monitoring platform Downdetector has also confirmed the Spotify outage, with close to 50 thousand people confirming that they are facing issues with the music streaming service at the time of writing this. In a post on its X account, Spotify confirmed the issue and said that it’s currently checking what might be the cause of the outage.

What went wrong with Spotify, and when can you expect a fix?

On its support website, the company has specified what issues users are facing right now and which clients are impacted. As stated by the music streaming giant, Spotify might struggle to load properly on both desktop and mobile devices. It might not be worth wasting time loading it, because even if you manage to get it up and running, you might also face playback issues, as per Spotify.

Users started complaining about the Spotify issues around 8:45 AM ET, so it’s been a few hours since users have been facing the outage, and it’s still ongoing. While this is indeed taking a long time, Spotify urged users not to believe reports that claim the outage might be due to a security hack. In another X post, the company reiterated that it’s working to resolve it “as soon as possible.”

This is starting to become more of a regular occurrence than many customers would like. Just last month, a similar situation hit pause on the tunes, with Spotify taking roughly six hours to give the all clear after first acknowledging the issue on X.

So you might want to brace yourself for a few more hours without Spotify if last month’s outage is any indication. However, Downdetector outage reports have already started to wane as of 11:00 a.m. ET, down to only 18,000 after 48,000 reports were made the previous hour.

We’ll keep monitoring the situation and let you know if there are any updates, but in the meantime, you might want to try a Spotify alternative or two.
