Just last year, we showed you a jailbreak tweak called PinAnim by iOS developer sourcelocation that would animate the dots on the Lock Screen’s passcode entry interface such that they’d bounce, one after another, when entering your passcode.
As of this week, PinAnim version 2.0 has been released to support the rootless dynamic of jailbreaks running on iOS 15 and 16, including Dopamine and palera1n.
The animated GIF above shows PinAnim’s primary animation type, but it’s worth noting that the tweak offers four different animations to choose from, including Bounce, Scale, Hidden, and Stay. You can further customize those animations by fine-tuning their speed, amplification, adding haptic feedback, and more.
Users will find these new options in a redesigned preference pane in the Settings app, along with other settings:
PinAnim is a very simple jailbreak tweak, but that shouldn’t detract from its appeal. Entering passcodes already feels somewhat archaic in today’s world as most people are using biometric authentication methods like Face ID and Touch ID to log in to their device, but PinAnim makes it exciting to enter numeric passcodes again.
It’s rare that you’ll need to enter a numeric passcode on a modern device equipped with biometric authentication capabilities, but when you do, you’ll appreciate the added touch of love that goes into improving the user interface that PinAnim lends.
Anyone who’d like the add the PinAnim tweak to their jailbroken iOS 15 or 16 device can download the tweak for free from the Havoc repository via their favorite package manager app.
