Private Internet Access (PIA) is an excellent option for torrenting because it allows P2P traffic on all servers, including the ones in Vietnam. Additionally, the VPN offers port forwarding, which increases the number of peers you can connect to so you get faster download speeds. The SOCKS5 proxy, which changes your IP address and provides faster downloads without encryption, is also available.
PIA maintained blazing-fast connection speeds in my tests. Websites loaded instantly, HD and 4K videos didn’t buffer, I played online games with no lag, and I downloaded a 30 GB file in just 20 minutes (which is really fast, but not quite as fast as ExpressVPN).
PIA is also really good for streaming and works with most popular streaming sites.
And I love how user-friendly PIA’s apps are to navigate. The Smart Rules tool is quite useful for customizing a lot of CyberGhost VPN’s settings. For example, you can automatically connect to one of its servers in Vietnam when you launch a certain app, or you can enable an app to start when you connect to one of its servers.
CyberGhost has very fast connection speeds. Websites and HD videos loaded instantly, and I was able to play online games without any lag. Even so, it’s not as fast as ExpressVPN, which I’ve found has the fastest speeds of any VPN.

4. NordVPN — Reliable With Great Security Features & Fast Speeds
NordVPN has great security features that keep your data safe while surfing, gaming, or torrenting with a Vietnam IP address. One of my favorites is the Threat Protection feature that blocks ads, trackers, and malicious sites. I visited ad-heavy sites, and I didn’t see any ads — plus it blocked most of the shady sites I tried to access.
NordVPN offers full leak protection, RAM-only servers, and perfect forward secrecy. I like that its no-logs policy has been independently audited, but I would like to see NordVPN publicly disclose its transparency report like CyberGhost VPN has.
In my tests, NordVPN had great speeds. Every website loaded instantly, and I was able to watch videos without any buffering, which is really impressive, but it’s still not as fast as ExpressVPN.
NordVPN works with many popular streaming services. In addition, NordVPN allows P2P traffic on its Vietnam servers and works well with uTorrent and BitTorrent.

Surfshark is a reliable VPN that offers strong security features, including perfect forward secrecy and RAM-only servers. Its no-logs policy has been independently audited and verified, but I would like to see Surfshark offer full leak protection — it only has DNS leak protection. That said, I experienced no leaks in my tests.
The CleanWeb feature blocks ads, ad trackers, and access to shady sites. Although it did block me from questionable sites, the ad blocker failed to block some pop-up ads, unlike PIA MACE.
Customer support told me that Surfshark works with many, but not all, top streaming sites (ExpressVPN works with all of them). However, it doesn’t allow torrenting on servers in Vietnam.
Surfshark has good speeds — it took me 2–3 seconds to load websites and 4–5 seconds to load HD videos, but I experienced some lag when playing online games. In short, Surfshark is not as fast as ExpressVPN.
I found Surfshark’s apps quite user-friendly. You can set up the Quick Connect feature to connect to the Vietnam server location automatically. Plus, the app lists the servers you have recently connected to, and you can add servers to favorites, which Surfshark then places on top of the list for quick access.
