Despite launching over 2.5 years ago, Google’s Nest Wifi Pro remains a solid Wi-Fi router that delivers reliable speeds and low latency across all your devices. Plus, the company occasionally rolls out updates for the router, patching any known security vulnerabilities and adding new features. Continuing that trend, the company has released the July update for the Nest Wifi Pro, improving Thread coverage and stability.

Google actually rolled out a software update (v3.75.467368) for the Nest Wifi Pro in April. But it pulled the release soon after, possibly due to some unforeseen bugs, and it never got around to re-releasing a fixed build after that. Almost two months later, the company seems to be finally rolling out the fixed build, carrying the version number 3.76.479819. As 9to5Google reports, the release notes for this firmware remain the same as the update that Google pulled in April.

Google’s release notes for the update highlight the following changes:

  • Improved and more reliable whole-home coverage with Thread support
  • Stability and security vulnerability fixes

Additionally, the update addresses setup issues that owners of Yale Smart Lock with Matter might have been facing. Hopefully, the July build will also fix the persistent slow internet issues that many Nest Wifi Pro users have reported for months.

Do note that the new firmware is only rolling out for the Wifi Pro and not the regular Nest Wifi router. The latter’s last update rolled out in May 2025, bringing stability improvements and security fixes.

Google seems to have already pushed the July update for the Nest Wifi Pro widely. You can confirm if your router silently updated itself to the latest firmware by checking the Device settings of the router from the Google Home app. This is Nest Wifi Pro’s first update of the year, with the last firmware being released publicly in December 2024.

Given the age of the Nest Wifi Pro, you might think Google could be preparing to reveal its successor soon. But there have not been any leaks surrounding the device in recent years, with the last leak emerging in November 2023.
