Gboard is one of the best keyboard apps you can use on your Android phone, and it’s worth recommending to anyone looking to try a new keyboard. While there are some solid reasons to ditch Gboard in favour of alternatives like SwiftKey, it comes at a cost, as no Android keyboard app other than Google’s will give you access to Emoji Kitchen.
It might become even harder to switch from Gboard to a different keyboard app in the future, especially for those who love using the Emoji Kitchen feature. That’s because the Mountain View tech giant is planning to introduce a new feature to make Emoji Kitchen much more convenient to use.
Gboard’s Emoji Kitchen wants to save you time
For those unaware, Gboard’s Emoji Kitchen lets you combine two different emojis to create a custom sticker. As fun as it may sound, it can take away a lot of your time, as you need to create those mashups every time you want to use them in conversations. However, this might soon become a thing of the past, as Google appears to have found a solution to this problem with a new feature.
In an APK teardown of Gboard beta version 15.7.3.787916401, folks over at Android Authority have found references to a feature that will let users mark their Emoji Kitchen creations as “Favourites.” As things stand right now, you only have two options after creating a custom sticker: Send and Cancel. Now, in addition to these two, you’ll also have another option to mark your creation as one of your favourites when it rolls out.
Based on the screenshot shared by the Android Authority, you’ll be able to access all your favourite creations by tapping the love emoticon in the top right corner of the Emoji Kitchen suggestions. So, if you think you’re good at creating such stickers, you should save them as favorites to get easy access whenever you want. However, the APK teardown doesn’t reveal if there is a limit to how many such creations can be labeled as favorites.
We’ll know about it only after getting our hands on it. In the meantime, Google may be close to releasing it, as our friends at Android Authority have managed to get it working on their phones. Hopefully, it won’t be exclusive to Pixel devices, like the “Browse” feature is.
