Google raised Nest Aware’s subscription price in July, making the monthly and annual plans up to 33% more expensive. The steep hike pushed Nest Aware’s monthly cost to $10, while the annual plan jumped to $100. But it seems even Google knows the jump was steep, and it is now offering a 50% discount to select users to prevent them from leaving.
One Redditor reports receiving a 50% discount when he tried to cancel his yearly Nest Aware plan. So, instead of $100, he only needed to pay $50 to continue using Nest Aware for another year. That’s even cheaper than what Google previously charged for the plan.
Several other Reddit users tried the same trick and confirmed it works, scoring a 50% discount on their annual Nest Aware renewal. However, the offer only seems to apply to customers in the US who are on the annual plan, with Canadian and Australian Nest Aware users not reporting such discounts. The offer also only appears when canceling Nest Aware, not the more expensive Nest Aware Plus.
If you are in the US, you can try your luck by canceling your Nest Aware subscription. If your account is eligible for the 50% discount, a pop-up will appear in the prompt for the confirmation box. Otherwise, it will cancel the subscription. You can try this even if your renewal is a few months away.
This is a similar approach to YouTube TV’s recent promo, where select users were randomly offered a $66 discount spread over two months.
