Google is weeks away from launching the Pixel 10 series along with the Pixel Watch 4, and potentially the Pixel Buds 2a. While the Pixel Buds Pro 2 is not expected to get a refresh this year, leaks over the past few weeks suggest that Google’s premium earbuds could get a new colorway. Now, Google has accidentally confirmed at least one new color of the Pixel Buds Pro 2.
Thanks to extensive Pixel 10 leaks over the last few weeks, we know that Google will introduce the Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL in two new colors: Moonstone (blue) and Jade (green). This was followed by another leak revealing that the Pixel Watch 4 would also be available in Moonstone, thereby offering some consistency between the two devices.
Adding to this development, 9to5Google has spotted a Google Store listing of the yet-unannounced Moonstone variant of the Pixel Buds Pro 2. This wasn’t just a simple mention of the Moonstone colorway, as Google’s online storefront also published the product images of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 in the new shade. The addition of this new colorway comes at a cost, though, as it will seemingly replace the existing Wintergreen color.
Will there be an Obsidian version in the mix?
The Google Store also listed an Obsidian version of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 in place of the existing Hazel option. However, the product images for this particular version were from the Hazel variant. So it’s unclear whether the name change was intentional or just an error.
Google appears to have quickly learned about the error and has since taken down the mentions of Moonstone and Obsidian from the Pixel Buds Pro 2 listing, while Wintergreen also appears to be back, although it’s listed as “out of stock.” Meanwhile, Porcelain, Hazel, and Peony complete the lineup.
Google will host its Made for Google event on August 20, where the new lineup of Pixel 10 smartphones and the Pixel Watch 4 will be unveiled. We’re guessing Google will have a word or two to share about the new Pixel Buds Pro 2 color(s), possibly after announcing the Pixel Buds 2a. The release of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 in Moonstone also means that users will be able to get a Pixel phone, Pixel smartwatch, and Pixel earbuds featuring the same color.
