Palera1n jailbreak updated to v2.0.0 beta 9.1 to fix app crashing on iPadOS 17.2-17.3.1

The palera1n checkm8 bootrom exploit-based rootless jailbreak for arm64 (A8-A11) chip-equipped handsets on iOS & iPadOS 15.x-16.x and iPadOS 17.x received an important update last weekend to version 2.0.0 beta 9. But since that update dropped, at least one issue has been identified.

In a post shared to X (formerly Twitter) early Wednesday morning, the palera1n team shared that the jailbreak has been updated to version 2.0.0 beta 9.1 to address an issue that was causing apps to crash.

Device-side changes

– Fix bug where thid_should_crash=0 is not applied correctly on iOS 17.0-17.3.1

In a previous post, the palera1n team said that the problem affected devices running on iPadOS 17.2-17.3.1 when it shouldn’t have due to thid_should_crash=0 being applied only to iPadOS 17.4 beta 1 and onwards.

If you were using the original build of palera1n v2.0.0 beta 9, then it would be advisable to overwrite it with the latest v2.0.0 beta 9.1 build to fix this issue and to ensure you have the latest bug fixes and improvements.

If you weren’t using the v2.0.0 beta 9 update yet, then now is a pretty good time to upgrade as the issues have been ironed out.

You can find out more about the palera1n project via the GitHub page where it’s being hosted. You can also follow the detailed step-by-step guide we made to get jailbroken with palera1n for the first time if you haven’t already used it.

Alternatively, since palera1n is a semi-tethered jailbreak that requires use of a computer to re-jailbreak after every hard reboot, you may consider using the Dopamine v2 semi-untethered jailbreak if your device is supported instead.

Are you running the latest version of the palera1n jailbreak? Let us know why or why not in the comments section down below.
