We’ve finally been given official word on when the Samsung Galaxy S25 range will be getting its long-awaited upgrade to One UI 9. And it’s sooner than many hoped.
So, despite an unexpected phone getting access to Samsung’s latest OS before the previous flagship phones, Samsung is finally starting to get control of One UI 9’s rollout.
Expect One UI 9 to land on your S25 within the next month
Details are less clear for certain phones
The rollout of Samsung’s latest mobile operating system has been all over the place, As is usual, the latest Z range phones were first to get the latest OS.
You might expect the Galaxy S26 range to be next in line, but then the FE version of the latest flagships somehow managed to jump the gun and get ahead. The S26 line then started receiving One UI 9 yesterday, so there’s an element of “no harm, no foul”, but it’s easy to assume Samsung has lost control of the narrative a little.
Thankfully, it seems to have grabbed control back. A news post from Samsung Thailand (translated by Android Authority) shares definitive dates for when a number of Galaxy phone ranges can expect to receive One UI 9.
According to the post, the Galaxy S25 and Z7 ranges can expect to see One UI 9 roll out on September 28, and the Galaxy S23 FE receiving updates at some time in October.
Where are the Galaxy S24 and S23 in all of this? Well, your guess is as good as ours. But it should be fair to expect to see them receive updates sometime between the end of September and October.
Of course, this is specifically the rollout for Samsung devices in Thailand, so devices in the US may not get the update on this exact date. However, Thai S26 devices are scheduled to receive One UI 9 on September 21, the same day as Canada — so it’s not unfair to assume US S26 phones will also get the same rollout date.
If that ends up being true, then it’s also possible the same dates will hold true in the US for the Galaxy S25 and later. At least, that’s our theory.
Regardless of the exact date it arrives, it’s clear One UI 9 is on the way to S25 and Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 devices in the US, and we don’t have too much longer to wait.
