If you’re a YouTube TV subscriber, you’ll know that the service hasn’t delivered the best experience over the past few months, with contract negotiations that left content missing. The disruptions got so bad that loyal YouTube TV subscribers gave up on the service, which required the brand to woo them back with incentives.

As we head into the final month of the year, you’d hope that YouTube TV will end the year strong, delivering uninterrupted service for the busy holiday season. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case, as it is now experiencing a pretty major issue that won’t allow users to enjoy some of their content.

Not an ideal scenario

YouTube TV sort options

It’s unclear just how widespread this problem is, but it’s enough to have plenty of folks chiming in through various online forums, with Google even creating a support page acknowledging the issue (via 9to5Google). As far as what’s going on, some YouTube TV subscribers are seeing an error message when trying to record or access programs that were previously recorded.

YouTube TV is a live-streaming TV service, so unlike Netflix, viewers need to watch programming as it goes live or at its scheduled time in order to catch it. YouTube understands that this isn’t always possible, so the service has a DVR feature that makes it easier to record and catch any shows you might miss.

It’s one of the major perks of YouTube TV. So, as you can imagine, not being able to access your recorded shows, or even record shows, is a pretty big problem. However, it appears that the issue isn’t affecting all users. But if you’re someone that’s affected, you may see a message stating “Restricted recording” or “go back” on the screen.

You’ll have to sit tight for the moment

Unfortunately, Google does not have a solution for the time being. So, rather than catch a missed episode of your favorite show, you’re going to have to find something else to watch for now. We don’t think that this is something that’s going to drag out, but let’s hope that YouTube fixes the issue as soon as it can.

As stated before, it’s already had a relatively unstable quarter, it’d be a shame to end the year on such a low note. Who knows? Maybe it will issue another credit to keep its customers happy.
