Google rolled out the stable Android 16 QPR1 build with Material 3 Expressive redesign to all compatible Pixel devices earlier this month. But Beta Program users never received the ‘No Data Wipe’ OTA, meaning switching to stable would wipe their phones. Many stayed on QPR1 Beta 3.1, patiently waiting for the No Data Wipe OTA. But the delay led to Google Wallet and VPN breaking for them, making the wait frustrating. Thankfully, Google has finally begun rolling out the update for Pixel users on the beta channel.

The 39MB update will directly update Pixel devices running Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3.1 to the stable release of the OS (Build BP3A.250905.014). If your Pixel is enrolled in the Beta Program and you haven’t installed the QPR2 beta, the No Data Wipe OTA should appear for download. If not, try restarting your phone and checking again (via Reddit).

Do note that some users report Google Pay completely breaking for them after installing the stable OTA. There are sporadic reports, and if you run into the same problem, restart your phone after installing the update to see if it resolves the issue. This trick seems to have worked for at least one user, though they had to restart their device multiple times.

As a beta tester, it’s frustrating to wait this long for the stable No Data Wipe OTA. The last QPR1 Beta arrived in mid-August, and Google has taken nearly a month after the stable release to finally push the update.

This is your chance to exit the Android Beta Program

Note that installing the No Data Wipe OTA will mean that you exit the Android Beta Program and move to the stable channel. Also, this OTA will only appear if you have not already installed the Android 16 QPR2 Beta on your Pixel.

In case you have, your next window to switch to the stable channel without a data wipe will only open once Android 16’s next Quarterly Platform Release drops. Unless you are okay with formatting your phone while exiting the program.
