Sony’s next mid-range phone, the Xperia 10 VII, has leaked through fresh renders and an early Hong Kong retailer listing. As shared by Winfuture.de, the device marks the first major design shift in the Xperia 10 series in years, though it still sticks to Sony’s signature choices with bezels and camera placement.

Retro-inspired design sparks interest

Call me crazy and old, but that’s a nice-looking piece of kit.

Renders show the Xperia 10 VII in black, white, and a new turquoise finish, sporting sharper edges and a horizontal camera bar. The dual-camera layout breaks from Sony’s usual vertical stack, last seen revived on the Xperia 1 VII.

Instead of a punch-hole or notch, Sony continues with slim top and bottom bezels. So far, the reaction on social media is positive toward the design, possibly because the somewhat retro styling offers a change from most modern hardware. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a possible dedicated shutter button further nod to the brand’s older Xperia DNA.

Balanced but modest hardware

According to the listing, the Xperia 10 VII packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, 8GB of RAM, and 12 GB of expandable storage. The 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display is paired with a 50MP main camera, 13MP ultrawide, and 8MP selfie shooter.

It also features a 5,000mAh battery, IP65/68 water resistance (which means it’s been explicitly tested to both standards), and launches with Android 15. At 8.3mm thick and 169 grams, it should appeal to those who prefer a compact phone.

The launch comes as Sony works to restore confidence after a major system-level bug marred the Xperia 1 VII’s debut earlier this year. Following a public apology, the company promised better support and more consistent updates — commitments the Xperia 10 VII will be expected to reflect.

The refreshed design and competent hardware make the Xperia 10 VII one of Sony’s most promising mid-rangers in recent memory, though it will only be available in Europe, the UK, and Asia. But its success will hinge on pricing: a 400 Euro to 500 Euro range could make it competitive, while anything higher risks losing ground to solid midrange competitors from Motorola, Samsung, OnePlus, and Google’s Pixel A-series.
