Samsung is following a pattern, and everyone is catching on.

Slim phones are great, but the drawbacks they bring in tow really aren’t. With its slimmest Galaxy S25 Edge earlier this year, Samsung showcased that it can manufacture a 5.8mm thin phone with decent specs, and it’s only looking to improve its future devices in both of those aspects.

This year’s upcoming Galaxy S25 FE, for example, will reportedly measure in at 7.4mm in thickness, down from 8mm on its predecessor. However, it’s next year’s Galaxy S26 Edge that might mark Samsung making a statement.

The Galaxy S25 Edge offers a slim frame, but is plagued by battery woes and a less capable camera system compared to other devices in its price range. Samsung reportedly wants to solve at least one of those problems, all while making its upcoming Edge even thinner.

As highlighted by credible industry leaker @UniverseIce on X (via Android Authority), Samsung is ready to make the S26 Edge 3mm thinner than its predecessor, all while fitting it with a bigger 4,200mAh battery. For reference, the Galaxy S25 Edge sports a 3,900mAh cell.

The upcoming Galaxy S26 series is set to transform the South Korean tech giant’s S-branded flagship line. Since 2020’s Galaxy S20 series, Samsung has offered base, Plus, and Ultra models for all of its S-series flagship phones. That’s set to change with next year’s Galaxy S26 series, with the tech giant reportedly set to get rid of the base and plus models with a ‘Pro’ and ‘Edge’ model, respectively.

The leaked spec bump makes sense considering that the Edge model is poised to be a core part of Samsung’s refreshed flagship lineup.

The upcoming series, including the Galaxy S26 Edge, is still a few months away. We’re hoping to learn more about how the devices will stack up against the competition as more details emerge.
