If you’re active on Google Maps, you might land free Google Fi service through the end of 2025. Google’s mobile network is offering this perk to select Maps contributors.
A Google Maps user has shared an email screenshot on Reddit showing they can get any Google Fi Unlimited plan free for three months, worth up to $195. The email hints at coverage through the end of the year, but since it’s already July, that doesn’t really add up.
Enjoy Google Fi at no cost for the rest of the year
Thanks to your contributions on Google Maps, you can enjoy Google Fi for the rest of the year, on us. Google Fi is a phone plan from Google without contracts or hidden fees, and now you can get 3 months of any Unlimited plan at no cost.¹ Up to a $195 value.
The mix-up likely comes from this being a recurring perk that usually drops around October, as pointed out by Android Authority. Google seems to have reused the old email without updating the details.
So, how do you qualify? Google seems to be offering this to Local Guides: those power users who help keep Maps accurate with reviews, photos, and info about places and businesses.
The full terms aren’t visible, but based on earlier rounds, it’s only open to first-time Fi users who bring their number over. That rules a lot of folks out, but if you were already thinking about switching, a $195 head start isn’t too bad.
Is Google Fi right for you? Depends on where you live
Figuring out if Google Fi works for you comes down to your needs and where you live. It’s been known to be reliable, but definitely not one-size-fits-all. Before making the switch, check the Fi coverage map. It taps into T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular and automatically hops between networks to keep you on the strongest signal.
To get the most out of Google Fi’s network—which smartly blends T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular—you’ll want a “Designed for Fi” phone. That mostly means Pixel models and a few Galaxy devices built to fully tap into Fi’s features and deliver the best performance.
Thinking about scoring a future Google Fi offer? Start contributing on Google Maps now. Just open the app, hit the “Contribute” tab, and you’re in. You might end up on Google’s radar next time it hands out perks.
