Google’s flagship Pixel 10 series isn’t even out yet, and we’re already starting to hear whispers about the Pixel 12.
Not due until 2027, the Pixel 12 series is reportedly already on Google’s drawing board, and it looks like the series will continue to embarce the tech giant’s long-established internal device naming pattern.
For reference, Google’s 2021-released Pixel 6 series was codenamed after birds, while its successor, the Pixel 7 series was codenamed after big cats. 2023’s Pixel 8 took over codenames based on dog breeds, while last year’s Pixel 9 series was codenamed with reptiles in mind.
Roughly two months from now, Google will unveil its Pixel 10 series, and we already know that the devices will be codenamed after horses.
- Pixel 10: Frankel
- Pixel 10 Pro: Blazer
- Pixel 10 Pro XL: Mustang
- Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Rango
2026’s Pixel 11 series, on the other hand, is expected to be named after bears, and according to leaker Mystic Leaks on Telegram, via 9to5Google, 2027’s Pixel 12 series could follow that with primate-themed codenames.
Lineup remains consistent
According to the leaker, Google is already at work on the next-gen series, with codenames all but confirmed.
- Pixel 12: Galago
- Pixel 12 Pro: Sasquatch
- Pixel 12 Pro XL: Silverback
- Pixel 12 Pro Fold: Capuchin
Said codenames make sense. Galago are small nocturnal primates, matching the base Pixel’s small and compact frame. Conversely, ‘Silverback’ for the Pixel 12 Pro XL suggests a large form factor device.
While the codenames don’t offer much insight, they confirm that up until 2027, at the very least, Google’s lineup will continue to feature a similar structure of three regular flagships and one foldable.
