It’s all about content if you’re going to run a streaming service, which is why many brands have started to just make their own, rather than relying on licenses to stream, which can become expensive when it’s time to renew. YouTube TV has faced this battle many times over the past few years, with many of its negotiations coming down to the wire.

Most recently, the brand had a pretty public negotiation with Fox, with the possibility of losing content from the broadcast network if it couldn’t reach an agreement. Luckily, in the final hours, YouTube TV and Fox were able to come to an agreement, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a nail-biter for subscribers (via 9to5Google). Thankfully, negotiations with NBCUniversal were smooth.

Service continues per usual

NBCUniversal and YouTube announced a new contract going forward, with a multi-year agreement in place that will allow YouTube TV subscribers access to popular channels like, NBC, USA, Syfy, CNBC, Telemundo, and many more. In addition, subscribers will also have access to NBC Sports Network (NBCSN), a new channel debuting later this year.

The deal will also include NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service as part of YouTube Primetime Channels. This will allow users to subscribe to Peacock through YouTube, which can be more convenient for some. For the most part, the deal with NBCUniversal looked to be pretty smooth looking from the outside.

As stated before, the brand has had harder negotiations in the past, which is understandable, considering that content isn’t cheap to produce, and these channels are necessary to have if you’re going to run a TV service alternative. Although YouTube TV used to be a more affordable option when compared to traditional TV services, it’s now pretty pricey, costing $83/month.

The great news is that you can try it for three weeks, which should give you a pretty good idea whether it’s something that will work for you. You get access to over 100 channels, with access on pretty much any internet-connected device. The service also offers other features like unlimited DVR recordings, and access to exclusive content like NFL Sunday Ticket.
