YouTube is an absolute juggernaut when it comes to streaming content, with millions of people heading to the website each day in order to get their daily dose of entertainment. And unlike other streaming services, you can enjoy most of the content on the platform for free.

Of course, YouTube has grown quite a bit over the past few years, adding new features like Shorts, and it’s now doing more for its creators by introducing new services and features to the platform during its Made on YouTube celebration.

Changes to get excited about

Of course, there are a lot of new features to talk about, but one of the highlights are some the revamps that are coming to livestreaming. It’s not easy starting out, as it can be a nerve-racking experience. Luckily, YouTube wants to make it even easier to get started, providing a tool that will allow creators to practice, ensuring that everything looks and sounds good before going live.

The platform is even introducing a new feature called Playables on Live, which will allow creators to access a library of over 75 games, and play them live on stream, while also interacting with those watching. It’s a place to start if you don’t really know what you want to do on the platform, and the best part is that it doesn’t cost anything to try it out.

Perhaps even cooler is that YouTube will now support streaming in different formats, allowing creators to simultaneously broadcast horizontal and vertical content. Furthermore, this feature will be supported with a unified chatroom, allowing creators to interact with all users, regardless of the streams being watched.

Reaction content always gets a pretty good following, which is why YouTube is now making it easier for creators to get in on this type of format by allowing creators to start up a livestream of their own, and react to live content on the platform with the touch of a button. As you can imagine, having all the tools you need within one app can make a huge difference.

In addition to the above, YouTube will also introduce a new AI tool that will take live content, chop out the best parts, and allow it to be uploaded to Shorts. This is something that a lot of creators are already doing, but this tool makes it easier to get it done, which can be a huge relief for a beginner.

But perhaps most important, YouTube is also introducing new ways to monetize content. Creators will now be able to run ads during livestreams that won’t interrupt the broadcast thanks to the new side-by-side ad layout. In addition, there will also be a feature that will allow “channel membership creators to easily transition from public to members-only livestreams, without disruption.”

As mentioned before, livestreaming isn’t the only thing changing, with YouTube injecting a bunch of new tools into its platform so that creators can thrive. While it’s hard to stand out as a creator in 2025, YouTube is offering the tools to at least give you a good chance if you’re looking to start.
