You can now unlock the full capabilities of Apple AirPods on Android

Apple still makes some of the best wireless earbuds you can buy, but the problem is that they aren’t natively built to be used on Android devices. While the experience isn’t terrible when pairing with an Android device, you are still missing some features. We’ve seen some third-party apps make the experience better, but this new app takes things to a whole new level.

LibrePods is an app that’s been available for a little while, but got some extra attention this week thanks to the folks at Android Authority. The point of the app is to unlock most of the AirPods features so that you gain full control of the earbuds on Android. If you’re someone that’s been using AirPods with Android, this app is going to be worth checking out.

It’s important to note that this is not an official app from Apple, so there is a chance that it might not work as expected. Also, most people will need to root their Android device if they want the full capabilities of LibrePods. The developer does make some exceptions, with OxygenOS and ColorOS users being exempt from the root requirement.

As you can tell, this is a pretty powerful app. Not only are you getting access to some of the best features AirPods have to offer, but there are also some simple quality of life features introduced with this app as well.
