For many people, today is Google Day, when fans enjoy their shiny new Pixel 10 devices, freshly delivered from pre-orders. Clearly, Samsung didn’t want to leave its fans without something to talk about, as it’s revealed exactly when we can expect the next Galaxy Unpacked event.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, the cut-price version of the Galaxy S25 range, will be revealed to the public on September 4 in a “Galaxy Event” that seems to be focused around yet more Galaxy AI tricks.
The Galaxy S25 FE will be revealed in just over a week
But will it be overshadowed at its own announcement?
Samsung doesn’t mention the Galaxy S25 FE in its press release, but at this point, we all know it’s coming. The Galaxy S25 FE has been subject to an enormous amount of leaks in the last few weeks, and thanks to errors like a mistimed retail listing, we know practically everything there is to know about the new addition to the S25 range. The S25 FE is a mirror of everything that made the S25 range great, but retooled slightly to meet a lower price. It’ll be equipped with a 4nm Exynos 2400, 8GB of RAM, and will start at 128GB of storage. The 6.7-inch display is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel, but will peak at 1080p, rather than 1440. It still has a 120Hz refresh rate though, so you’re not likely to feel like you’re missing out too much.
The camera is likely to be slightly weaker than its more expensive siblings, but again, camera tech has gotten so good that this will likely still be a very good shooter. The battery is expected to be a 4,900mAh cell, which is solid, and it comes with up to 45W fast charging, which is among the fastest Samsung offers — a nice addition for bargain hunters.
The FE edition is always a value-laden proposition, and the S25 FE looks no different — but it seems that Samsung is going to be spending most of the event talking about anything other than its new hardware. Instead, it’s likely to focus on Galaxy AI. The press release mentions that “a new gateway to the latest Galaxy AI experiences is about to open”, and invites us to “discover a more seamless mobile experience” for “premium AI tablets to the newest member of the Galaxy S25 family”. It seems very clear Samsung won’t be focusing on its new hardware too much, and will instead be spending a lot of time talking about AI instead.
It’s possible Samsung has chosen to do this because of how heavily leaked the S25 FE has been, but it’s also possible this is just a new trend in hardware announcements. It’s notable that Samsung hasn’t highlighted this as an Unpacked event (though it clearly is one), instead going with “Galaxy Event”. Expect a lot of talk about AI, regardless of how you feel about it.
The Galaxy Event will air on Samsung’s website and YouTube channel on September 4 at 11:30 a.m. CEST (2.30 a.m. PT).
