Verizon faces stiff competition from rivals like T-Mobile and AT&T, as each carrier tries to poach the other’s subscribers with the lure of better offers or pricing. Gaining new customers is particularly crucial for Verizon, given its faltering subscriber figures.
With this in mind, the carrier has launched a “Bring your bill from AT&T or T-Mobile” promotion, promising to “give you a better deal.” The landing page contains a table that lets you compare Verizon’s top-tier ‘Unlimited Ultimate’ plan and its benefits alongside similar plans from T-Mobile and AT&T.
One T-Mobile user who visited a Verizon store and switched over detailed their experience on Reddit. The store employees reportedly ran the T-Mobile bill through an AI tool, which then generated a price for the user’s new Verizon plan (via Android Authority). Expectedly, the price match guarantee may not apply to your legacy/grandfathered plan.
That’s one way to gain more subscribers
One detail the Reddit user points out is that Verizon’s price-matched plan will be valid for three years. After that point, the carrier is free to bump up the prices, leaving you with few options, apart from porting to another carrier.
But it’s not all bad news. Verizon will seemingly match the streaming subscriptions for services like Apple TV, Hulu, and Netflix as long as they appear on the bill you’re bringing in.
Verizon also lets you try out this new promo online. However, walking to a store might be a better option for many, particularly given the complexities involved in navigating all the details on the carrier’s website. Meanwhile, Verizon’s implementation of the Gemini-powered customer support chatbot has been far from ideal, as we recently learned, so the online route may not be for everyone.
As the Reddit user notes, some employees may not be fully aware of all the details of this promotion, as it was only recently launched. Nevertheless, you should be able to walk into a Verizon outlet with your bill and get a quote from the carrier. Interestingly, Verizon doesn’t mention the AI aspect of this price match promotion anywhere on its page, with the info coming courtesy of the Reddit thread.
