Vē is another advanced notification logging jailbreak tweak for iPhones, but this one is free

Over the weekend, we showed you a remarkable jailbreak tweak called Senri that logged and archived all of your handset’s incoming notifications so that you could browse through them at a future date.

Vē examples.Vē examples.

Yes; I loved that tweak. But I have to admit that after learning about a free alternative dubbed by iOS developer vyolit that appears to do many of the same things (and have more options), that the freebie is more appealing.

As you can see in the screenshot examples above, Vē utilizes a similar interface for browsing previously-received notifications whether they’ve been opened or not.

These notification logs can be further opened to display any relevant attachments from the notification and their specific data, which may include:

  • The notification number
  • The bundle identifier of the app it’s from
  • The app name of the app it’s from
  • The title of the notification
  • Whether the notification had any attachments
  • The date of the notification
  • Previews of any attachments
  • And more…

Many of the same core features exist in Senri as they do in Vē, which is one reason why I think users should consider it. But when you dig into the preference pane in the Settings app, that’s where you’ll find a gold mine more of customization than Senri:

Options here include:

  • Toggling Vē on or off on demand
  • Configuring a log history limit via a slider
  • Enable or disable saving attachments
  • Enable or disable notifications without content
  • Blacklist logging notifications by blocked senders
  • Enable or disable biometric authentication for accessing logged notifications
  • Enable or disable automatically deleting logs after 7 days
  • Reset all options to their defaults
  • Respring your device to save any changes you’ve made

One thing worth noting is that unlike Senri, Vē isn’t hosted on a repository. The only way to get it is by visiting the tweak’s GitHub page and downloading and installing the .deb file via your installed package manager app.

The tweak appears to support jailbreaks running on iOS & iPadOS 14, 15 and 16.

Are you planning to give Vē a try, or are you already using Senri? Let us know in the comments section down below.
