Upcoming Fugu15-based ra1ncloud jailbreak for arm64e devices running iOS 15.0-15.4.1 looks promising

If you’ve been patiently waiting for a jailbreak on iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1 that wasn’t only intended for developers, then you might be in for a treat very soon.

An upcoming Fugu15-based tool dubbed ra1ncloud by @iarchiveml and /u/EmuNew3569 aims to offer a user-friendly jailbreak solution for the general public, and just like Fugu15, it’s expected to support a subset of arm64e devices (iPhone XS and newer). It’s unclear if the 3GB RAM iPhone XR will be supported.

Details about the jailbreak are extremely limited at this point in time, primarily because it’s not out yet. But EmuNew3569 posted teaser screenshots of ra1ncloud on /r/jailbreak Thursday afternoon and suggested that it would be available very soon.

From what we can gather, ra1ncloud will be a semi-untethered rootless jailbreak, which means users won’t be able to tinker with the OS/root folder. It also won’t support tweak injection initially, but should in the future.

Another note to keep in mind is that ra1ncloud intends to be a user-friendly jailbreak, whereas the alternative XinaA15 jailbreak is complicated, buggy, and developer-centric. This is a big deal, as the Odyssey Team’s long delayed and possibly cancelled Cheyote jailbreak for iOS 15.0-15.1.1 was supposed to fill that gap, and never did.

Devices older than the arm64e variety (iPhone X and older) and use the checkm8 bootrom exploit-based palera1n jailbreak to pwn any version of iOS or iPadOS 15.

While iOS 15 is far from the current firmware these days, it’s still a wonderful thing to see the jailbreak community moving forward despite all the roadblocks put in place by Apple. It will be interesting to see how this project develops, and we’ll be monitoring it very closely.

Are you excited to try out ra1ncloud? Let us know in the comments section down below.
