TrollLEDs is a TrollStore add-on that gives you more granular LED flash control on iPhones

As we first showed you back in 2022, iOS developer PoomSmart has long dabbled with the rear-facing flash on iPhones to see what could be possible by way of jailbreaking. But in more recent times, TrollStore-based add-ons have increased in popularity, especially when many people had access to TrollStore, but were waiting for a jailbreak to launch before Dopamine v2 hit the shelves.

For that reason, we’re excited to spread the word about one of PoomSmart’s magnificent TrollStore add-ons called TrollLEDs, which can be installed with or without a jailbreak if you have the TrollStore perma-signing utility at your disposal.

With TrollLEDs, you can control your iPhone’s rear-facing LED flash more granularly than you could if you were simply using the Control Center or Lock Screen Quick Action toggle. More specifically, instead of merely toggling the rear-facing LED flash on or off, or tweaking the brightness, TrollLEDs lets you control the intensity of cool or warm light emitted by the LED diode(s) on supported handsets.

As you can see from the app’s interface shown above, TrollLEDs lets you individually control up to four different sliders, two of which are for controlling cool white LED diodes and the other two of which are for controlling warm white LED diodes. You will only use all four sliders if your handset sports a quad LED flash, while dual LED flash devices will only make use of two of the sliders.

The brightness and intensity of the LED diode of each color depends on how high you’ve adjusted the slider, so you’re able to control the color temperature by carefully dialing in the cool and warm white values.

As noted on the project’s GitHub page, TrollLEDs requires iOS 11 or later and only works with iPhones that have at least dual LED flash functionality – both a cool and warm white LED diode (typically used for TruTone flash capabilities). That said, handsets such as the iPhone 5 and older aren’t supported. The page also notes that TrollLEDs isn’t compatible with the iPhone 14 or later series handsets due to changes in the LED flash.

PoomSmart also warns that using the TrollLEDs app can result in battery drain due to keeping the flashlight device connection active, so the app will automatically terminate itself after 5 minutes of inactivity to mitigate this.

If you’re interested in having more control over your handset’s rear-facing flash, you meet the compatibility criteria, and you have TrollStore, then you can head over to the project’s GitHub page to learn more about TrollLEDs.

Please note that the developer suggests not using TrollLEDs alongside the Amber jailbreak tweak on pwned handsets, as the tweak will override the app.

How will you use the TrollLEDs app for TrollStore-capable devices? Let us know in the comments section down below.
