MWC may not be as massive as it once was, but plenty of brands are still showcasing their latest tech in Barcelona. Honor’s new CEO, James Li, took the stage to unveil the company’s Alpha plan, aiming to transform Honor from just a smartphone brand into a global AI device ecosystem leader.
As part of this shift, Honor announced that its flagship phones — starting with the Magic 7 Pro — will now receive seven years of OS updates and security patches, putting them in line with Samsung and Google’s latest update policies. But software wasn’t the only focus. Honor also unveiled new hardware, including the Honor Pad V9, Honor Watch 5 Ultra, and Honor Earbuds Open at its MWC keynote.

Newer isn’t always better
The Honor Watch 5 Ultra is the company’s latest smartwatch for global markets. While it doesn’t run Wear OS 5, it comes packed with premium features. The watch is made from grade 5 titanium and features Sapphire Crystal glass. It also offers 5ATM water resistance, meaning it can handle rain, showers, and workouts without issue.
On the health front, the Honor Watch 5 Ultra supports 100+ sports modes, tracks heart rate, blood oxygen, and sleep, and even includes ECG monitoring. It also has a Healthy Morning Report that provides an overview of your health based on your recovery and activity from the previous day.
The smartwatch features a 1.5-inch AMOLED display with always-on display support, and despite all these features, Honor claims up to 15 days of battery life on a single charge. That’s more than the Pixel Watch 3, Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, and even the new OnePlus Watch 3. The Honor Watch 5 Ultra starts at €279.
Honor’s new open-ear earbuds can translate in real-time
The Honor Earbuds Open are the brand’s latest open-ear earbuds. Honor says the new open-ear earbuds are designed to deliver powerful sound despite their open design. They also feature real-time AI-powered translation and are priced at €149.
Honor also launched the Honor Pad V9, a mid-range tablet that offers impressive specs for the price. It features an 11.5-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 2800×1840 resolution. Powering the tablet is MediaTek’s Dimensity 8350 Elite chipset, with a mix of high-performance Cortex-A715 cores and efficiency-focused Cortex-A510 cores.
The Pad V9 packs a 10,100 mAh battery with 35W fast charging and runs on Magic OS 9.0, based on Android 15, out of the box. It also comes with Honor’s AI-powered Magic Portal, which simplifies multi-step tasks into a single action, along with AI noise reduction for calls. The Honor Pad V9 starts at €250.

Alongside its hardware launches, Honor also showcased new AI features at MWC, including a new AI Upscale feature that restores old portrait shots as well as a new all-ecosystem file-sharing technology that enables seamless file transfers between iOS and Android devices. This file-sharing feature works similarly to O+ Connect on the new Oppo Find N5 and OnePlus 13.
While Honor sells its smartwatches and earbuds in the US, the company hasn’t confirmed pricing or availability for these new products Stateside. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear more.
