Lots of people would agree that it’s useful to have app shortcuts on the Lock Screen. After all, it’s that sentiment that made older jailbreak tweaks such as Jellyfish so popular back in the day.
Apple clearly took notes regarding this concept with its Camera and Flashlight Quick Actions, but their non-customizability is a non-starter for a lot of people. That’s why a new jailbreak tweak dubbed Rena by iOS developer Sugiuta might be worth taking a look at.
Rena brings a customizable app shortcut widget to the Lock Screen that lends fast access to your favorite apps without troubling yourself with navigating the Home Screen.
Compatible with both iPhones and iPads alike, running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-15.7.1, Rena is highly configurable and adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where users may customize the tweak to their liking:
Things that you can do here include:
- Toggling Rena on or off on demand
- Selecting your favorite apps to use
- Hiding the blur effect
- Customizing the width of the widget
- Customizing the height of the widget
- Adjusting the edge of the widget
- And more…
The developer has included a Respring button at the top-right of the preference pane that lets you save any changes you make here on demand.
According to the developer, Rena is fully compatible with the Fugu15 Max, XinaA15, and palera1n jailbreaks. Additionally, support for the Axon, Mochi15, and some other jailbreak tweaks is fully included.
If you’re interested in giving Rena a try, the tweak is available for free from the Havoc repository via your favorite package manager app.
