Jailbreakable iPhones that come equipped with ProMotion displays, including the iPhone 13 Pro & Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro & Pro Max now have more options when it comes to enabling 120Hz display refresh rates.

A newly released jailbreak tweak called Dynamic120hz by iOS developer zq666 allows jailbreakers using the aforementioned devices to dynamically unlock the 120Hz display refresh rate, even in apps that wouldn’t ordinarily support it.
Citing the tweak’s depiction page via the Havoc repository, the tweak can enable higher dynamic display refresh rates system-wide, where supported. It also supports games, allowing you to maintain smoother frame rates, and maintains that smoothness as you transition back to the Home Screen.
Users of Dynamic120hz may also noticed a colored dot at the top-left of their display, which looks similar to the camera or microphone alert dot just to the left of the time. The dot signifies your current display refresh rate. Green signifies 120Hz, while orange signifies 60Hz.
Once installed, Dynamic120hz also puts a preference pane in the Settings app where users can configure a few options to their liking:
Things you can do here include:
- Toggling Dynamic120hz on or off on demand
- Choosing a dynamic refresh rate mode:
- Fast
- Very Fast
- Ultra Fast
- Configuring the indicator dot layout
- Enable or disable the indicator dot
- Configure the size of the dot via a slider
- Configure the X coordinate of the dot via a slider
- Configure the Y coordinate of the dot via a slider
- Disable Dynamic120hz for certain apps
- And more…
Please note that Dynamic120hz never applies when you have Low Power Mode turned on, as Low Power Mode specifically reduces power consumption by lowering your display’s frame rate. Dynamic120hz will not override this for obvious reasons.
Those interested in giving Dynamic120hz a try can purchase the tweak for $3.49 from the Havoc repository using a package manager of their choice. The tweak is advertised as supporting jailbroken iOS 15 and 16 devices using rootless jailbreaks such as Dopamine and XinaA15 v2. The palera1n jailbreak wouldn’t apply here, as those older devices don’t support ProMotion displays.
