The Android tablet market took a dip a few years ago, but competition has improved and ultimately broadened our choices. There are great Android tablets from Samsung and solid options from OnePlus.

However, most of their tablets sit on the pricier end, and the budget Android tablets don’t offer much, nor do they have anything unique to make them stand out. That’s why I’ve been a fan of the Google Pixel Tablet since it launched.

The Pixel Tablet offers a stock Android tablet experience from Google at a relatively reasonable price and comes with a smart speaker dock that turns the tablet into a smart home hub when it’s idle, making it a truly versatile 2-in-1 device.

If you’ve been on the fence about buying this tablet, this Prime Day makes it hard to ignore.

The Pixel Tablet is currently down from its $499 retail price to $309, which is a massive savings of $190, at nearly 40% off. At this price, this might be the tablet deal that’s too good to pass up.

The Pixel Tablet is still a solid pick in 2025

It’s fast, reliable, and more useful than most Android tablets

It’s been nearly two years since Google officially introduced the Pixel Tablet, and yet, it remains one of the best Android tablets on the market that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

It launched at $499 for the variant with the speaker dock in the box. At that time, we fully recommended this tablet, since it doesn’t only serve one purpose. It also doubles as a smart home hub (more on that below).

For now, the Prime Day discount is making it too hard to ignore. For this low price, you get an Android tablet with a big 10.95-inch HD LCD display.

Our reviewer, Taylor Kerns, said the display is good enough to view from multiple angles, which is necessary since it can also serve as a smart home hub, and the colors are punchy and vibrant.

Having used the Pixel Tablet myself, I didn’t find the display quite as good as what you get on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. Still, for the price, it performs well and looks great.

Pixel Tablet with Google Home view

Under the hood, you’ll find a Tensor G2 processor, which is the same processor as the Pixel 7. It still runs just fine today, especially considering tablets are typically for light to medium use.

In terms of battery life, Google claims up to 12 hours of use on a single charge unplugged, and we found that to hold true.

Software is one area where most budget Android tablets fall short. Being a Pixel device, this is where it one-ups its rivals, not just budget tablets but high-end ones as well.

It comes with the stock Android experience you expect from a Pixel, with long-term software support. It’s already eligible for Android 16 and will receive security updates through June 2028.

There are helpful AI features on board, including Google Gemini and Circle to Search. Plus, with the upcoming Android update, it will get the new desktop windowing mode, allowing for a more laptop-like experience.

You’re getting a smart display and tablet in one deal

A great Android tablet that also doubles as a smart display

The best and unique thing about the Google Pixel Tablet is that it doesn’t serve only one purpose. It doubles as a smart home hub when connected to the speaker dock (included as part of this Prime Day deal).

With the speaker dock, when you place your Pixel Tablet on it, the device becomes a smart home hub, letting you control all your smart home devices using either voice commands or the touchscreen display.

Alongside this, you get better audio output, and thanks to the magnetic connector on the back, the tablet also charges while docked. It’s like having a Google Nest Hub, but with a detachable display you can take anywhere and use independently.

I usually don’t recommend spending an extra $100 on the charging speaker dock, since you could buy a separate smart home device for that price.

However, with this Prime Day deal, the price difference between the non-dock and dock versions is just $60, making this bundle an even better deal.

If you’re not into the smart dock, you can grab the standard Pixel Tablet, which is currently at its lowest price ever: $250.
