Google Play Games users recently received an email announcing some key changes that would occur on September 23, 2025. Prominent among these additions is the inclusion of “gaming stats and milestones” on individual profile pages, plus a shift in the way user data is collected.
We’re now getting an early look at this feature, courtesy of an APK teardown by Android Authority, revealing some of the visual changes coming to your Google Play Games profile. The publication managed to activate the new visuals by tinkering with the latest Play Store beta.
Screenshots show Follower and Following counters on the main profile page, aligning with modern-day social media platforms. Meanwhile, your tier in Play Points and the Play Games level will also be prominently visible.
A visual overhaul is on the way
In what should come as welcome news, there are additional image styles to make your profile stand out. Some of the newly added styles include 3D cartoon, anime, claymation, pixel art, and more. We came across some of these elements back in February, although it’s still not crystal clear if they will be a part of the upcoming Play Games profile page redesign.
Android Authority has also uncovered a new Settings page entry within the Play Store for “Play Games profile,” offering more evidence of the app’s imminent relegation. This page allows users to customize their profile image and username, though this task can also be achieved from the main profile page as part of the upcoming redesign.
Given that these changes were spotted in a beta, it’s hard to tell which ones will make it to the upcoming September 23 redesign. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait much longer to find out.
As we wait for the redesign to go live later this month, Google has published a support page detailing a “suite of new features” that will be introduced to Play Games this month. Google says this “enhanced gaming profile” will let users highlight their game stats and progress, engage with other players in the community, and gain more control over profile customization (via The Verge).
Similar to the email sent to Play Games users last week, Google also talks about the data it will collect for the upcoming reorganization.
