Around a year ago, we showed you a jailbreak tweak called SquidGesture that allowed you to perform various handy actions with gestures performed on the Status Bar or at the bottom of the display. The tweak, compatible with jailbroken devices running iOS 14, 15, and 16, was free to download and became somewhat popular.
But it seems that iOS developer SquidForce is looking to expand their popular SquidGesture jailbreak tweak with the release of a new add-on called SquidGesture Pro.
While the original SquidGesture jailbreak tweak allowed you to perform actions with a gesture, it seems that the focus of SquidGesture Pro is to centralize multiple actions into an interface that you can summon on demand with a gesture so that you can pick from any of them instead of the gesture being assigned to just one item.
More than that, SquidForce says that they plan to add support for action flows in the future, which could mean that a single gesture sets off a chain reaction of actions, saving the user time in the long run.
Citing the tweak’s depiction page in the Havoc repository, SquidGesture Pro can be triggered by the end user via one of several different methods, which include:
- Using the same bottom-of-screen gesture you use to open the App Switcher
- Using Status Bar-based gestures:
- Single-tap
- Double-tap
- Tap and hold
- Swipe left
- Swipe right
- Using Dock-based gestures:
- Swipe up on Dock
- Swipe left on Dock
- Swipe right on Dock
- Using a hardware button on your device
- And more…
As for the different kinds of things you can do with SquidGesture Pro, the developer lists the following possibilities that you can assign to your gesture:
- System screenshot
- Control Center
- Notification Center
- Spotlight
- Record screen
- Lock screen
- Switch on/off VPN
- Play/Pause
- Previous track
- Next track
- Reachability
- Toggle rotation lock
- Open specific application
- Toggle flashlight
- Launch app
- Toggle rotation lock
- Music control
- “Hammer It” related actions
- “Snapper2/3” related operations
- Trigger “PullOver Pro“
- Trigger “Zetsu“
- Trigger “Cardculator“
- Trigger “Snapper 2/3“
- Trigger “CopyVault”
- Trigger “Kayoko”
- Trigger “CopyLog“
- Respring / Reboot userspace
- WeChat scan
- Alipay scan
- Shortcuts and more…
Among the many actions above are also triggers for other popular jailbreak tweaks, such as Cardculator, Zetsu, Snapper 2 & 3, and many more. That said, the developer is working tirelessly to provide easier access to not only system actions, but to third-party actions of other developers’ jailbreak tweaks, which is admirable.
SquidGesture Pro has been tested on both notched and Home Button-equipped handsets, ensuring a wide range of compatibility with devices – old and new. Those interested in giving the tweak a try can purchase it for $4.99 from the Havoc repository via their favorite package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 14, 15, and 16 devices, just like the original free version.
