Google Pixel smartphones are known to be riddled with bugs, although that has started to fade with the Pixel 9 series and recent Android releases. That said, there are still days when people report new bugs on Pixel phones, and this time, it seems to be one of the most important functions of the smartphone — the alarm clock.
Frustrated Pixel owners have taken to Reddit to report that alarms are not going off as scheduled on their devices. Users are reporting that their Pixel sends a “Missed alarm” notification — after the time their alarm was supposed to go off — saying the “Alarm didn’t fire due to an unknown reason.”
You might not want to trust your morning alarm if you own a Pixel
The issue doesn’t seem widespread yet, but a number of users in the Reddit thread said the same thing happened to them, with some claiming it’s occurred “a few times,” suggesting it’s not a one-off case.
Some users contacted Google support, but according to a Redditor, Google said it hasn’t been able to replicate the issue and “is not looking for a fix” currently. Maybe because it’s not widespread, but if more reports keep coming, Google might just look into it. Most users facing this issue were on the stable build of Android, not the Android Beta program.
But this isn’t the first time Google Pixel users have complained about alarms. Pixel 9 users reported a similar problem in March 2025, where alarms turned off on their own. This time, however, it seems like a system error is preventing the alarm from triggering altogether.
I haven’t experienced the alarm bug on my Pixel 9 yet (running the latest Android 16 QPR1 beta), but there are enough reports to suggest it’s affecting more than a few people. For now, there’s no fix, but maybe consider setting backup alarms on other devices like smart home hubs or smartwatches — just in case.
