The Pixel 10 series (except for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold) has recently reached store shelves, and early adopters are in the process of learning new things about Google’s smartphone lineup. While a majority of the changes/upgrades we’ve encountered so far are positive, save for an Android Auto bug, a new issue has just come to light that will annoy a fair bunch of customers.
According to multiple complaints on platforms like Reddit and Google’s own support page, owners of the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and the Pixel 10 Pro XL are reportedly unable to pair their new flagship with Samsung Galaxy Watch models. The bug appears to impact the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch 8, as well as the Galaxy Watch Ultra models.
Meanwhile, the folks at Android Authority have managed to replicate the issue using the Pixel 10 Pro XL and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, encountering a “Couldn’t set up your watch” error on the Pixel device.
Offering some additional context, the site says the Pixel 10 Pro XL at their disposal was updated to the September 2025 security patch, while they even tried to pair the two devices manually from the Bluetooth settings, but to no avail.
There are workarounds, but their success rates are low
Even resetting the smartwatch’s settings and reinstalling the Samsung Wearable and Samsung Health apps didn’t bear any fruit, per Android Authority. The good news is that Google appears to be aware of the problem, according to a product expert responding to the complaint on Google’s support page around three days ago.
However, the original complaint was posted a week ago, with a majority of the Reddit complaints also originating last week. So one can hope that a fix is already on the way. Users have confirmed that the issue is specific to Pixel 10 models, as their Galaxy Watch models reportedly work fine with the Pixel 9.
There’s also a theory that the August security patch on the Galaxy Watch may have triggered the incompatibility, though it’s too early to tell if it’s the real culprit. Some users have found a workaround by reinstalling Samsung Health. But as we noted above, it doesn’t appear to work for everyone.
