Smartphone brand Nothing likes to keep things simple, both in terms of design and functionality. While the phones may not appeal to everybody, there’s no denying that they stand out in a sea of familiar-looking slab phones. We’ve already seen the launch of the Nothing Phone 3, touted as the manufacturer’s first “true flagship” in July.

However, months before the Phone 3’s arrival, Nothing also released midrange powerhouses, namely the Phone 3a and the Phone 3a Pro, in the US. It now looks like the stage is set for the next generation of Nothing midrangers to hit the market, with the Phone 4a Pro appearing on a database.

Exclusive reporting by Smartprix has uncovered a Nothing smartphone with the model number A069P on the IMEI database. Since the Phone 3a Pro features the model number A059P, it’s not far-fetched to presume that this newly spotted device is indeed the Phone 3a Pro’s successor. In any case, we’d rather wait for a more definitive leak (perhaps in the form of renders) before jumping to conclusions on the Phone 4a Pro.

The Nothing Phone 3a bears the model number A059. With this in mind, Smartprix predicts that the Phone 4a will be assigned the model number A069 when it is released alongside the Phone 4a Pro, possibly sometime in the first quarter of 2026.

Shrouded in mystery, but not for long

Since only the solitary model number has leaked from the IMEI database, we don’t have any information on the Phone 4a Pro’s hardware specifications. Assuming the company follows the same strategy as its predecessor, we could see this model positioned above the standard Phone 4a at launch, potentially with a better camera system and the use of premium materials in its construction (aluminum vs plastic on the cheaper Phone 3a).

US consumers will hope the company will move away from the “Beta Program,” which is how the Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro are currently sold. Under this program, customers get limited warranty coverage, returns, and support (14 days), a bargain that most consumers are unwilling to accept. By contrast, the Phone 3 is available through standard channels in the US, as was the Nothing Phone 2 back in 2023.

We hope that the Phone 4a and the 4a Pro will take a similar approach to US sales when they are released next year. Provided the manufacturer follows the same launch strategy as the Phone 3a and 3a Pro, we can expect Nothing’s upcoming midrange smartphone duo to debut in March next year.
