Summary

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will have larger 6.49-inch cover and 8-inch internal displays.
  • The Z Fold 7 will retain the same 4,400 mAh battery despite the bigger screens.
  • Samsung aims to boost battery life with AI optimizations, not bigger battery capacity.

It’s no secret: Samsung is gearing up to launch the next generation of foldable devices soon. We’ve been getting leaks about the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 for quite some time, and the company even officially teased the Galaxy Ultra foldable last week with bigger screens and better cameras. Now, we’re hearing more about the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s specs.

According to Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature significantly bigger displays than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Young claims the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will come with a 6.49-inch cover display and an 8-inch internal foldable display. If true, this would be a big jump from the 6.3-inch cover and 7.6-inch internal displays on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

This would bring the Galaxy Z Fold 7 closer to the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Oppo Find N5, both of which feature 8-inch or larger displays. Young also noted the display would be similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE launched last year in South Korea with a much wider display than the Fold 6 — something users have long requested — and a thinner build. It finally looks like global users will get a taste of the Z Fold 6 SE with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 could bring larger screens, but don’t expect a new battery

Not all is good news, though. A report from SammyGuru adds that while the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s display size will increase, this won’t translate to a bigger battery. According to the publication, the Z Fold 7 will ship with the same 4,400 mAh battery as the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Instead, it looks like Samsung will rely on AI-powered battery optimizations to boost battery life. The report points out that the recently launched Galaxy S25 Edge comes with a small 3,900 mAh battery but delivers decent battery life, and Samsung plans to use the same tech for the Z Fold 7 despite its bigger displays.

We’re not quite sure what to expect from the device’s battery performance until we test the Galaxy Z Fold 7 ourselves, but it’s certainly not the battery upgrade we were hoping for. It does seem, however, that Samsung is finally fixing the screen issue and delivering a Z Fold with a wider display similar to standard slab phones at least.
