Recent leaks suggest the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is being built with top-tier performance in mind, quite unsurprisingly, and Samsung might slip in a fresh OLED screen that uses AI to keep your display more private.
Korean outlet DealSite reports that Samsung Display has begun mass-producing its “Flex Magic Pixel” OLED tech, first revealed at MWC 2024. The display supposedly leans on AI to shift viewing angles, helping keep what’s on the screen out of sight from others (via SamMobile).
The tech works a lot like privacy films that block side glances, but since it’s built right into the screen, there’s no need for an extra layer that usually dims brightness or hurts visibility.
Unlike regular privacy screens, Flex Magic Pixel won’t compromise display quality. It’s built in, so you get privacy protection without losing clarity or brightness.
The OLED tech may have been unveiled some time ago, but with mass production now underway, Samsung looks ready to bring it to market. The first devices expected to feature it are the Galaxy S26 Ultra, potentially followed by the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8.
AI-powered security for sensitive apps
When the tech was first announced, Samsung said the tech could spot when you’re using sensitive apps like a banking app in public. In that case, the AI would kick in to tighten security, with the Flex Magic Pixel OLED adding another layer of privacy. Put simply, the screen can automatically narrow its viewing angle whenever a sensitive app is open.
DealSite reports that the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s display will combine Flex Magic Pixel with Color filter on Encapsulation (CoE) tech. Already used in Samsung’s foldable phones, CoE swaps out the polarizer layer, making the screen thinner, brighter, and more efficient. Sources say it also plays a key role in the privacy feature by cutting down light loss when Flex Magic Pixel is active.
Beyond Flex Magic Pixel, Samsung may be reworking the Galaxy S26 lineup. The base model could be rebranded as the Galaxy S26 Pro, the Plus might be dropped in favor of a Galaxy S26 Edge, while the Ultra is expected to keep its spot at the top.
