Samsung’s having a solid 2025 so far. Its Galaxy S25 series was generally well-received, and it looks like the upcoming Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will follow a similar path with their slim aesthetic.

We’re also expecting the tech giant to reveal its first-ever Fan Edition (FE) foldable at the upcoming Unpacked event this week, but there’s another FE smartphone that we’re hoping to see later this year.

We’ve known about the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE since April this year. For reference, the device is reported to be using either last year’s Exynos 2400e or MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 in the chip department. The device will reportedly also offer an upgraded 12MP selfie shooter (up from 10MP on the S24 FE).

Elsewhere, from what we already know, we’re expecting the upcoming device to have slimmer bezels than its predecessor, paired with a reported thinner overall frame. At first, this was mostly believed to have been achieved by a new internal layout or a potential component shrinkage. Now, however, new reports stemming out of South Korea suggest that the thinner build might just be thanks to a shift to flexible OLED display panels.

The upgrade will likely come with a price hike

As highlighted by ZDNet Korea (via SamMobile), the display tech will replace the old rigid OLED panels seen on older FE devices. For reference, rigid panels are built on a solid and stiff glass substrate. Flexible OLEDs, on the other hand, can be manufactured over flexible material, helping make the device slimmer overall. Samsung’s S-series flagships, for reference, use the flexible OLED tech.

Leaks indicated that the Galaxy S25 FE will measure in at 61.4 x 76.6 x 7.4mm, which means it will be slightly thicker than the base S25 (7.2mm), but thinner than the S24 FE (8mm). The device will boast a 6.7-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED display with a 2,600-nits peak brightness.

The upgrades might come with a price hike too, driving the device’s cost up to $700, from $650 last year.
