Tech Outbound Ship Shape Challenge – D Day

This is the 11th hour update for my Tech Outbound Ship Shape Challenge. If you are catching up, the challenge is to lose 56 pounds of unhealthy body mass with an additional 4 pounds tied to a side bet with Kevin Kline. I started the beginning of March, and I now have less than 24 hours to reach the goal. I don’t consider this an official update, because there will be one more that comes after Tech Outbound. I want the “after” part of my before and after pictures to be taken there.

Why the out of band update?

Easy answer. Tomorrow is the deadline. I jumped on my Aria scale one last time – primarily to make sure I haven’t ruined it over the last week, which has been pretty crazy all around.

I also needed a reminder of how far I’ve come. It may seem like I’ve done this in a short amount of time. For me, it has felt like ages. I’m ready for an adjustment, but I also know that I have further to go in order to reach an ultimate goal. If I think about my measurements today, it still feels like a stretch goal.

My scale posts to FitBit, and seeing that chart slope down sharply is a reminder that I can do it, and I have already been doing it. It helps me to keep logging what I eat, and waking up early to exercise regardless of when I was able to fall asleep – even if I didn’t fall asleep at all, which I know a lot of you can empathize with.

It says to me – “Hey Jason, you’ve done well – keep it up fellah!” I certainly appreciate everyone telling me the same things themselves, but at the end of the day technology does not care about my feelings. It gives me the raw truth, and the raw truth stings when you are trending the wrong way. Sometimes that sting is what is needed to get me back on track.

Not today though! The raw truth says Kevin is getting shaved tomorrow!

See you Friday

Obviously, not everyone can just bolt and head to Seattle, but if you live in the area, you should try to hit our Roadshow tomorrow. Yes, to learn about our solutions, but also, because this might be the first and last public face shaving of a Data Platform MVP ever. It’s going to be fun, and I would love to share the victory with as many people as possible.

If you can make it, I’ll see you there!

Until next time,
