AVPLs (Attribute-Value Pairs Lists) are used to add additional information to Wireshark packets. Wireshark packet analyzer tool provides the functionality to capture the packet and configure the AVPLs (Attribute-Value Pairs Lists). for configuration follow these steps as listed here.
Stepwise Implementation Configuration of AVPLsĀ
Step 1: So, first of all, we have to open our Wireshark and capture the packets that we want to analyze and configure the packet in the AVPLs list.
Step 2: Suppose we want to capture wifi in Wireshark and analyze the packet and configure any packet with the AVPLs list.
Step 3: Now select any packet and mark as read then what we have to do right click on the particular packet and go to the āDecode Asā option from the context menu.
Step 4: In the āDecode Asā window, select the protocol you want to add an AVPL to form the list. And Ā Click the ā+ā button to add a new AVPL to the protocol.
In the āAVPLs Listā window that appears, click the ā+ā button to add a new attribute-value pair.
Step 5: Enter the attribute and value for the AVP in the āAttributeā and āValueā fields, respectively. and click the save button.
Step 6: The AVPLs will now be displayed in the packet details pane for that packet.
Step 7: If you want you can also save your AVPL configuration as a profile so you can quickly apply it to future recordings. To do this, go to the āEditā menu and select āPreferencesā, then select the āProtocolsā tab and click on the āAVPL Profileā button. Click the New button to create a new profile and configure the AVPL as described above.
If you want to add more packets to the AVPLs list you can repeat the above steps. Once youāre done, click the āSaveā button to save the profile. You can then select the profile from the āDecode Asā menu to apply it to future captures.
