Barnes & Noble has announced its Summer Reading Program for students for 2025. Ranging from the first to sixth grades, educators are also included, with support in the US. Barnes & Noble has even worked up a reading journal in English (and Spanish), an easy way to fill in what you’ve read as you finish each book.

All participants have to do is read any eight books while filling in their worksheet. Then, simply bring the sheet to any Barnes & Noble brick-and-mortar store between July 1st and August 31st, 2025, while remarking which book was your favorite. Then, you get to choose a free title from a list included with Barnes & Noble’s worksheet. It’s a great way to score a free book for your child while encouraging them to read through the summer.

It’s challenging to keep your kids invested in learning during the summer months, and who can blame them? There’s a gigantic world of media out there vying for your child’s attention. This is why it’s nice to see Barnes & Noble roll out its Summer Reading Program for 2025 (via Good E-Reader), with a worthwhile incentive of a free book for reading any eight titles that strike you or your kids’ fancy.

What’s especially nice is that Barnes & Noble offers a worksheet to easily jot down each book as you finish it. This sheet also includes the choices of free books, ranging from grades 1 & 2, to 3 & 4, to 5 & 6, essentially covering age-appropriate content for first to sixth graders, with a minimum of 12 titles for each group. You can find the full list in an easily downloadable PDF by clicking on the 2025 Reading Journal text on the right of B&N’s Summer Reading Program landing page.
