Samsung’s first tri-folding phone has been detailed several times in the last few months. The company has also already confirmed that its futuristic device will debut later this year. However, early reports indicated a limited release for the device that would skip the US market entirely. Now, though, it looks like Samsung may have had a change of heart, with signs pointing to a possible US launch after all.

A CNN report, citing a “person familiar with the company’s plan,” says Samsung is considering launching the Galaxy Z TriFold in the US. So far, the Korean giant has typically released its experimental devices, like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE, in its home market, South Korea, and China.

Again, nothing is set in stone just yet, but Samsung is at least weighing the possibility of a US release.

Rumors suggest the trifold device will feature a titanium chassis, 16GB RAM, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Of course, the highlight will be the triple-folding screen and the experience that it offers.

Galaxy Z TriFold’s US launch could be Samsung’s next big flex

A wider launch of the tri-folding device, especially in the US, will help strengthen Samsung’s image, which has taken a hit in recent years over its perceived lack of innovation. The sleek Galaxy Z Fold 7 has already helped turn the tide around to a large extent, as evident from its unprecedented demand in the country. The interest in Samsung’s newest flagship foldable has been so strong that it has had to increase production capacity.

While Huawei has already beaten Samsung in launching a trifolding device, it’s not available in the US. So, a US debut would give Samsung the bragging rights of being the first to launch a tri-fold in the country.

Even if Samsung launches the trifold stateside, don’t expect it to be available across all carriers and retail stores. Plus, it won’t be cheap. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 already costs $2,000. So, it’s safe to assume the trifold will cost $3,000 or more.

In any case, we might not have to wait long to get the first official look at Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold. A recent report indicated the device could debut as soon as later this month, on September 29th, at an event in South Korea.
