The countdown has officially begun for Samsung’s next major software release, dubbed One UI 8.5. While we’ve learned quite a bit about the changes coming with the Android 16-based update, including some bad news about the first beta’s availability, more information continues to surface.

Today, we’re learning about camera-related improvements slated to land with One UI 8.5. Looking into the latest build of One UI 8.5, the folks at Android Authority uncovered lines of code that detail the ability to save presets for Pro Mode.

This feature should let you quickly switch to your preferred Pro mode preset for capturing images in certain settings, thereby saving you the trouble of manually adjusting these controls each time. It’s unclear how many presets can be saved this way, though it will be a worthy addition to Galaxy flagships, and one that many would feel is long overdue.

More control over your Galaxy phone’s cameras

Samsung will also let users select specific cameras for their Pro Mode preset, with strings revealing the ability to choose presets for the telephoto, super telephoto, wide, ultrawide, and front camera lenses. Additionally, Galaxy owners will also be able to customize the following attributes for their Pro mode presets:

  • Focus type: manual or auto focus
  • ISO
  • Kelvin value
  • Manual colour tune (saturation, contrast, highlights, shadow)
  • Shutter speed
  • White balance
  • Focus length
  • Exposure

That’s a long list of controls at the fingertips of Galaxy flagship owners, which should help you capture that crucial moment in double quick time. But that’s not all.

Additional lines of code in the pre-beta One UI 8.5 build reveal how Samsung could also let users share their Pro camera presets with others via Quick Share.

Some questions remain unanswered here, including how Samsung will manage sharing these presets with Galaxy phones that don’t offer flagship-grade camera specifications. But we expect more clarification on that front in future releases of One UI 8.5.

As Android Authority rightly points out, Samsung won’t be the first to offer the ability to set camera presets. However, Galaxy flagship owners won’t complain as it will finally make it a little easier to take advantage of the available hardware.

We’re still some distance from seeing One UI 8.5 in action, with news of the first beta’s delay meaning we won’t be able to get our hands on the software for a while yet.

This delay reportedly stems from Samsung’s decision to delay the release of the Galaxy S26 series, potentially due to the company’s initial decision to rename the base and Plus variants of the flagship, only to reverse course at this late stage.
