Samsung’s second Unpacked flagship event, which took place in July this year, was a special one, as it witnessed the South Korean tech giant launching its first-ever Fan-Edition foldable phone to compete with its Chinese rivals in that segment.
It’s too early to judge whether Samsung’s plan has worked, but for now, what seems to be more important for the company is fixing a nasty bug on its newest foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
Both Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 offer features that are specifically designed for foldable phones, though that’s not the only way both foldables are unique. These devices are also the first to offer you Android 16-based One UI 8 out of the box, giving you access to new features, while Samsung is still beta testing the Android 16 update on flagship phones like the Galaxy S25.
As much as you’d love to use those unique features, the One UI 8 can give you some tough times on your Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.
One UI 8 has a DND bug, and it’s still not fixed for Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 users
Folks over at SamMobile have spotted a bug on their Galaxy Z Fold 7, where it automatically resets their DND (Do Not Disturb) preferences. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 silenced every notification in scenarios where DND was customized to allow calls and messages from certain contacts.
Since this is a bug in One UI 8, avoid creating exceptions in DND on your Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, because doing so could make you miss important notifications at the right time.
This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about bugs in the Stable release of One UI 8. Earlier this month, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was hit with a bug, though unlike the current DND issue, it enabled a feature Samsung users have long been asking for. However, the DND bug has been reported before as well.
The reports of the DND issue first emerged on Reddit about a couple of weeks ago. It’s now fixed in the One UI 8 beta 5 update, which means you will no longer see it on your Galaxy S25 phones (via SammyGuru). However, no patch has arrived for the Stable One UI 8 release to fix the issue on Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 phones.
Samsung hasn’t commented on this issue, but we do hope to see the company address this bug in the next update on its newest foldable handsets.
