It’s well established at this point that Samsung is gearing up to release a triple-folding (or trifold) smartphone this year, following Huawei’s bold attempt last year. Over the past several weeks, we’ve received tidbits of information regarding this upcoming foldable, reportedly named the Galaxy Z TriFold. Thanks to a well-known source of leaks, we’re now learning that the foldable may not be far from release.
Writing on the Chinese social media site Weibo, established smartphone news leaker Ice Universe claims Samsung will release its hotly anticipated trifold smartphone at an event in South Korea on the 29th of September. If this date sounds familiar, it’s because that’s also when we expect to see Samsung’s first Android XR headset, codenamed Project Moohan (via Android Authority).
The leaker adds that Samsung’s AI smart glasses, tentatively named Galaxy Glasses, will also be featured during the event later this month.

In a previous leak, Ice Universe suggested a September/October debut of the Galaxy Z TriFold, with Samsung later saying that both the XR headset and the triple-folding device will launch this year. However, the company didn’t confirm whether both devices would be announced or launched at the same time, with this latest revelation solving that mystery to some extent.
It’s worth remembering that despite Ice Universe’s stellar track record with smartphone leaks, we cannot definitively say if Samsung will showcase its trifold smartphone on September 29. However, that could change over the coming weeks as Samsung potentially offers more details on this upcoming event.
In the meantime, Samsung is hosting a virtual event this Thursday, where we expect the new Galaxy Tab S11 series to be officially revealed. The Galaxy S25 FE will also be unveiled during the event this week, which has already made innumerable appearances in leaks.
As for the Galaxy Z TriFold, there’s still plenty we don’t know about the smartphone, though recent leaks have given us some clues about its functionalities, including details on how it would handle aspects like wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
